ABC-LA Event

Last week, I went to the Association of Bridal Consultants' event at Ramsey's at the Club. These events are not only great for meeting & reconnecting with fellow wedding professionals but always a learning experience too. Marley Majcher Boss, The Party Goddess!, shared valuable info about running her own thriving business... I also went home with a satisfied sweet tooth courtesy of Yummy Cupcakes.

Just found out I'm a lefty! With the tiny point & shoot cam at least :)
With the very talented & super fun Eddie Zarastian of Tic Tock Couture Florals
With Michael Brill of Ultimate Image
With Jeff Lapiner of GLI Video
With Maita Henson-Miyake of Simply Marvelous Weddings & Marcia Vidal of Crystal Clear Weddings
Thanks for inviting me Maita, had a blast!

8-core lovin'

You can take a girl out of geek school but you can't take the geek out of the girl. I've always been fascinated with technology, thus 4 years of studying the anatomy of computers & a 5-year stint in IT. Who knew it included binary math, serial buses, and schematic diagrams...in other words - learning how the computer thinks, how data is written on hard drives, or even how light is projected on the screen to create all these you're reading right now! Fun right? Not really, but the fun comes when you experience the speed, efficiency & power brought about by these super machines...

And if you have that need for speed, this baby takes care of that. (Am I sounding like a car salesman?) "Say hello to my not-so-li'l friend!" The MacPro 8-core. It's awesome!!! Installed Lightroom in a flash and loaded up thousands of images in no time. This is a definite cure for my ADD ;)

*Just make sure to install the OS X software update before going crazy with it.

All systems go!

So I've been moving.. packed, unpacked & finally getting settled in. First order of business - work station, this is where all the (Photoshop) magic happens ;)

Here's my new control tower... ready to rock & roll!

Paying it forward

In Filipino tradition, 18 is the coming of age. The "debutante" celebrates with family & friends, introducing her into society. The cotillion, the toasts, and the works... I shot Adrienne's grand celebration not too long ago. She has redefined coming of age to contributing to society, to paying it forward. In lieu of presents, she raised and contributed over $20K to the Make-A-Wish Foundation, granting wishes to four children. She is a genuine spirit! Just reminds us that you can never be too young (or too old) to make a difference :) Share your blessings...

Wildflower Linens + Bobbe Vagel

There's no exaggeration on the use of the word "amazing" when I refer to my clients and fellow wedding vendors. I've been so privileged to work with the industry's best and I'd like to share these with you in the next couple of posts.

Not too long ago, I worked with Desiree of Wildflower Linens & the very talented Bobbe Vagel to shoot these ultra chic table tops.
Since I can't draw, it always fascinates me to see people transform a blank canvas into an art piece. Bobbe is one of them, his vision transcends...

These were shot at
The Ebell Los Angeles and are supposed to be out on two different magazines anytime now.

I don't know why but I just LOVE orange!

Friday Night Lightbox

I was looking for one particular image tonight and found myself going through boxes of negatives & chromes. Hate to admit - my lightbox has accumulated a layer of what I believe in photographic lingo is referred to as "dust."

In the age of keyboard shortcuts and mouse clicks, I've forgotten how much fun this was...
Kodak EPP shot with the Mamiya RZ67. Aaah, good times!

Green Event Studio

Last night, I was down in the OC for The Green Event Studio. Christine Saunders of The Spiraled Stem opened the doors of her brand new space not only to celebrate but to raise funds benefiting women affected by breast cancer.

I had a little education on going green and the "sustainability" program too. Click here to read more about it... I've worked with Christine and she truly is passionate about what she does. Her wonderful creations do not end with her floral designs... her big heart will definitely take her places!

Always a blast hanging out with fellow wedding vendors... So I finally got myself a point & shoot camera (yes a point & shoot!) to better document my "adventures" when I'm traveling light :) Here are images from my baby Canon's maiden voyage:

with the lady of the hour, Chistine Saunders
with Jim Harrick of Ceremony Magazine
with new mommy, Courtney Toney of Joyful Weddings & Events
with Emi Hedden & Joe Latter
with Mirta & Joe Barnet of Barnet Photography
with Desiree Patterson of Wildflower LinensWe get to go home with a green thumb...
What an awesome art piece! Wonder who shot it? ;)

For some reason on events like this, we always end up hanging out with fellow photographers. Emi & Mike Hedden of Evoke Photography, Victor Sizemore, Joe Latter & moi after a gigantic dinner.
